As a Machinist , you'll perform setup, manual operations on a variety of machining equipment. You will also do engine component repairs that will restore, modify, or create precise dimensions and surfaces that meet engineering specifications. What you'll do : Machine products to tight tolerances. Read and interpret specification manuals, blueprints, templates and layouts to determine machining operation to be performed. Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges and micrometers. Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and lay out work pieces. Adjust and set up machine tools for use by machining tool operators. Participate in the cross training of other technicians as needed to support production requirements. Work independently and as a team to achieve maximum quality. Carry out other duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications 2 or more years of experience with manual machining. 2 or more years of experience operating lathes or mills and using measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, gauges, micrometers). Ability to sit or stand at least 50% of work shift. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Desired Skills VTL (Vertical Turning Lathe) experience. High degree of mechanical aptitude, accuracy and precision. Ability to read and interpret manuals and technical drawings. Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
