Full Job Description SUMMARY:
The Machinist III will perform alteration tasks on civil aviation articles in accordance with the current technical data provided in the manufacturers' Instructions for Continued Airworthiness, Services Bulletins, service letters, Airworthiness Directives, government and industry standard practices, and other data acceptable to or approved by the FAA. In addition to that, the machinist will also develop, duplicate, and manufacture tooling equipment as required.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Prioritize components for repairs to ensure delivery requirements are met on time. Apply specialty coatings to aviation components as required. Ensures up-to-date knowledge of all tools and proper use of equipment within assigned area of responsibility. Document maintenance records of all repair work orders performed. Utilize precision measuring equipment daily. Weld utilizing ARC, MIG and TIG. Operate an oxygen/acetylene torch. Operate a plasma torch. Develop and duplicate tooling using engineering drawings. Maintain inventory supplies for daily operation. Inspect work completed on aviation components. Operate manual lathe machines. Operate manual milling machines. Operate cut-off saws. Operate band saws. Operate bench grinders. Operate belt sanders. Operate drill presses. Operate the forklift as needed. Inspect work completed on aviation components. Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree OR an additional 3 years of specific work experience in lieu of degree. 4 years of manual machinist experience is required. 4 years of welding experience is required. Flexible to changing workloads/priorities based on customer requirements. Maintain an orderly and productive work environment. Ability to function in fast paced environment while maintaining a high level of quality. Basic computer operating skills.
