Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior CNC Setup/Operator with strong setup, programming, troubleshooting, and process-improvement experience in a precision machining environment. This role is ideal for someone who is confident setting up and running their own jobs, making adjustments at the control, refining machining processes, and sharing practical knowledge with less-experienced operators when needed. This is a hands-on CNC role centered on independent setups, program adjustments, tooling selection, machining strategy, process documentation, and continuous improvement. We are looking for someone who understands the full machining process — from reviewing prints and planning setups to proving out parts, adjusting programs, inspecting results, and improving repeatability. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate 5-axis CNC machining centers for precision components, independently running jobs from start to finish Work with Haas CNC controls, including G-code editing and macro programming where applicable Write, edit, and troubleshoot CNC programs directly at the machine control and through CAM software as needed Review technical drawings and GD&T specifications, plan job sequences, select appropriate tooling, and determine feeds and speeds for each job Develop and refine machining strategies for small, delicate, high-value components where scrap or breakage has direct cost impact Make real-time adjustments to offsets, tooling, programs, feeds, speeds, and machining processes during production Perform first-article inspections and in-process quality checks using precision measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and height gauges Verify dimensional conformance to drawing tolerances and surface-finish requirements at all stages of production Maintain records of approved and non-conforming components; collaborate with quality personnel to resolve deviations and prevent recurrence Create and maintain setup sheets, program files, tooling notes, and production documentation Help standardize repeatable setup and machining methods for recurring jobs Identify and drive process improvements to reduce scrap, improve yield, increase throughput, and strengthen process control Support less-experienced CNC operators through hands-on guidance, training, and best-practice sharing Handle precision components and tooling with appropriate care, following all applicable safety and material-handling procedures Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with shop and

2015 standards Required Qualifications 5+ years of CNC setup and operation experience — independently setting up and running your own jobs without a separate setup technician Hands-on Haas CNC experience with strong ability to write, edit, and troubleshoot G-code directly at the control Ability to read and interpret detailed technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T specifications with tight dimensional and surface-finish requirements Experience machining delicate, high-value, or non-ferrous materials where scrap or breakage has significant cost impact Strong understanding of tooling, fixturing, workholding, toolpath strategy, and small-part precision machining Proficiency with precision measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and height gauges for first-article and in-process inspection Ability to make practical, real-time program, offset, tooling, feed, and speed adjustments during production Experience documenting setups, tooling requirements, process notes, and repeatable machining methods Experience guiding, training, or mentoring less-experienced CNC operators in a hands-on shop environment Self-directed, organized, and able to prioritize work with minimal oversight Preferred Qualifications Experience with specialty optics, aerospace, defense, or high-precision subcontract manufacturing Haas macro programming experience CAM software proficiency — Mastercam, Fusion 360, or equivalent Familiarity with advanced metrology equipment such as interferometers, profilometers, or CMM Experience in an ISO 9001-regulated, defense, aerospace, or ITAR-controlled manufacturing environment Exposure to lean manufacturing principles and process improvement methodologies Compensation and Benefits Compensation will be based on experience Health insurance 401(k) Paid time off based on company policy Paid holidays based on company policy Stable, long-term opportunity in a growing precision manufacturing environment Hands-on technical role with meaningful impact on CNC processes, quality, documentation, and repeatability Other Duties This job description is intended to provide a general overview of the role and is not a comprehensive list of all duties, responsibilities, or activities required.
