We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Machinist for a temp-to-hire opportunity in our Columbus, GA facility. This position requires both manual and CNC machining expertise, with responsibilities spanning across setup, operation, troubleshooting, and mentoring. If you have robust experience in the aerospace manufacturing sector and possess leadership skills, you're encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
Perform manual machining (milling & turning), including fixture setup, machine tramming, and usage of dial/test indicators. Operate CNC machines (3-axis, 5-axis, mill-turn) with controllers (Okuma OSP, Heidenhain, Fanuc, Siemens). Utilize automatic tool setters (laser) and Renishaw in-machine probes for precise measurements and work offsets. Read and interpret blueprints, including working knowledge of tolerances and GD&T. Load and set up machine fixtures, ensuring proper alignment, squareness, and cleanliness. Execute machining operations on hard metals (nickel, titanium alloys), adhering to aerospace manufacturing standards. Use CMM machines; read and interpret CMM reports. Apply Microsoft Excel and Outlook for documentation, reporting, and communication. Communicate effectively across departments; take diligent notes and track work. Lead problem-solving, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation. Mentor and train less experienced machinists.
Requirements:
HS Diploma Required Prior hands-on experience in both manual and CNC machining environments.
Proficiency with machine controllers:
Okuma OSP, Heidenhain, Fanuc, Siemens.
Solid comprehension of machine/fixture setup:
squaring, tramming, indicator use. Working knowledge of blueprint reading, tolerances, and GD&T. Experience with CMM machines and hard metal machining. Aerospace manufacturing background preferred. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and professional email communication. Strong interpersonal and verbal skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with multiple departments. Problem-solving mindset and corrective action experience. Leadership qualities and mentoring experience (working leader).
