Contract‑to‑Hire or Direct Hire We are seeking an experienced VTL CNC Machinist to join our growing manufacturing team. This role is ideal for a machinist who excels in operating large Vertical Turning Lathes, working with heavy industrial components, and maintaining tight tolerances. As a VTL CNC Machinist , you will support critical machining operations and contribute to high‑precision production in a safety‑focused environment. Compensation $33.00-$38.00/hr during First Shift training 10% shift differential once moved to Second Shift $36.30-$41.80/hr on Second Shift Shift & Training Details All new hires begin on First Shift (6:00am-4:30pm) for approximately 90 days of training Transition to Second Shift (4:00pm-2:30am) after training Early transition possible for highly experienced machinists Conversions to permanent employment typically occur around the 90‑day mark Position Summary The VTL CNC Machinist will set up and operate large CNC Vertical Turning Lathes to machine heavy components with tight dimensional and geometric tolerances. This role requires strong experience with large‑scale machining, the ability to interpret CNC code (no programming required), and confidence working with alloy steels, stainless steels, carbon steels, and large forgings. We are looking for someone proactive, detail‑oriented, and comfortable asking questions to ensure accuracy, quality, and safety. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate large CNC Vertical Turning Lathes Machine large components to tight dimensional and geometric tolerances Interpret blueprints, sketches, planning sheets, and GD&T Understand CNC code and standard machining commands Select tooling, fixtures, and machining strategies Optimize cutting parameters for quality and tool life Perform in‑process and final inspections using precision measurement tools Troubleshoot machining and tooling issues with minimal supervision Collaborate with engineering and quality teams for first‑time‑right production Maintain strict adherence to safety, quality, and housekeeping standards Required Skills & Experience 5-7+ years of CNC machining experience in heavy industrial manufacturing Strong experience operating large VTL machines Ability to machine large, tight‑tolerance components Advanced blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation Experience with alloy steels, carbon steels, stainless steels, and large forgings Ability to read and understand CNC code (no programming required) Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently Willingness to work Second Shift after training PPE & Safety Requirements Steel or safety‑toe shoes Eye protection, ear protection, and hard hats provided as needed No headphones allowed Long pants required No hoodies or loose clothing Compliance Requirements US Citizens or Permanent Residents only Must pass a 10‑year background check (no felonies within the last 10 years) Must pass standard drug screening Why Join the Team?
