Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Horizontal Boring Mill CNC Machinist to support the machining of large, high‑precision industrial components. In this role, you will interpret complex technical data, determine machining strategies, and operate large CNC HBM equipment with a high degree of independence. Although the permanent schedule is Second Shift, all new hires complete 3-6 months of First Shift training to ensure success. This position is ideal for a Horizontal Boring Mill CNC Machinist who thrives in a high‑accuracy, heavy‑manufacturing environment and enjoys tackling challenging machining work. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate large CNC Horizontal Boring Mills Machine large components to tight dimensional and geometric tolerances Interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T Select tooling, fixtures, and machining strategies for large forgings and castings Optimize cutting parameters to improve quality, cycle time, and tool life Perform in‑process and final inspections using precision measurement tools Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and process issues with minimal supervision Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering and Quality teams to support first‑time‑right builds Maintain strict adherence to safety, quality, and housekeeping standards Requirements 5-7+ years of CNC machining experience in heavy industrial manufacturing Strong experience operating large HBM equipment Proven ability to machine large, tight‑tolerance components Advanced blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation Experience with alloy steels, carbon steels, stainless steels, and large forgings Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently Willingness to work Second Shift after training This role is best suited for a Horizontal Boring Mill CNC Machinist who is confident working with large, complex parts and thrives in a precision‑driven environment.
