This is a hands-on technical position with leadership potential as the division grows.

  • Relocation Assistance Available for the Right Candidate About the Opportunity Performance Power Systems (PPS), an Authorized Caterpillar Marine Dealer with more than 30 years of success, is launching a brand-new Heavy Diesel Engine Machining Division.
We're searching for one exceptional machinist who wants to become the technical leader of that operation. Primary Responsibilities Machine engine blocks, cylinder heads, connecting rods, camshafts, flywheels, valve guides and valve seats. Perform cylinder boring, honing, block decking, line boring and line honing. Operate manual machine tools and Rottler machining equipment. Use micrometers, dial bore gauges, dial indicators and precision measuring equipment. Read OEM specifications and engineering drawings. Assist with equipment installation and commissioning. Help develop shop procedures and quality standards. Maintain inspection and machining documentation. Maintain a safe, clean and organized shop. Required Qualifications 5+ years of manual machining experience. Experience machining diesel engine components. Experience with engine rebuilding and precision measurement. Ability to read OEM specifications. Strong troubleshooting skills. Valid driver's license Preferred Qualifications Experience with Rottler, Sunnen, Serdi, KwikWay or Berco equipment. Experience with Caterpillar, Cummins, Detroit Diesel, John Deere, MAN, MTU, Scania, Volvo Penta, Perkins or Deutz engines.
