Lathe Operator

Job Summary:

The Lathe Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining lathe machines to produce precision metal components according to specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

Set up and operate manual and/or CNC lathe machines to perform turning, boring, threading, and facing operations Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders to determine machining requirements Select appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds for various materials Measure and inspect finished parts using precision instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to ensure tolerances are met Perform routine machine maintenance and keep equipment in good working condition

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required; technical training preferred 1-3+ years of lathe operation experience (manual and/or CNC) Strong attention to detail and quality control Basic math and measurement skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Work Environment:

Manufacturing/fabrication shop environment (may include noise, dust, heat, and heavy machinery) Use of PPE required (safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, etc.)
