Job Title:
Machine Builder Job Description This role focuses on building and troubleshooting high-speed automated assembly machines, sub-assemblies, and electrical components using detailed engineering blueprints and specifications. You will debug new machines and processes, perform precise machine alignments and final set-ups, and actively participate in the planning and design of high-speed, precision automation equipment. Responsibilities Build automated assembly machines, sub-assemblies, and electrical components based on engineering blueprints and specifications. Troubleshoot and debug automated assembly machines and related processes for new equipment. Perform machine alignments and final set-ups to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Participate in the planning and design of high-speed, precision automation equipment. Assemble and debug pneumatic components, indexers, pick-and-place devices, metal forming tooling, punches, and dies. Work with control systems and perform PLC troubleshooting as needed to support machine functionality. Use manual mills and basic machine shop tools to fabricate, adjust, and refine machine components. Collaborate with engineering and other technical staff to resolve mechanical and electrical issues during build and debug. Interpret and work from detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation. Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow established safety and quality procedures. Essential Skills 3+ years of experience building automatic assembly equipment Proven mechanical aptitude with strong hands-on assembly and troubleshooting skills. Strong math skills and the ability to accurately interpret engineering drawings and blueprints. Ability to build and debug high-speed automated machinery and sub-assemblies. Experience with control systems and PLC troubleshooting in an automation environment. Proficiency using basic machine shop tools, including manual mills. Additional Skills & Qualifications Associate's degree, specialized education, or vocational-technical training in a mechanical field or crafts trade is preferred. Experience working with high-speed machinery and precision automation equipment. Comfort working from detailed specifications and technical documentation. Why Work Here? Work Environment The work takes place in a dedicated automation manufacturing and build facility with two primary machine-building departments: Machine Build Finishing and Machine Build Prototyping. You will work directly on high-speed automated machinery, sub-assemblies, and control systems, using basic machine shop tools and manual mills. The environment is hands-on and technical, with close collaboration between builders, engineers, and other technical staff to design, build, and refine precision automation equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Cary, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr.
