Job Description
seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Set-Up Operator to join our Plant 2 team on 2nd shift. This role sets up and operates CNC lathes to produce precision-machined turbine and power generation components, working from blueprints and programmed instructions to hold tight tolerances on high-value parts. Candidates with turn/mill machining experience are strongly encouraged to apply. Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC lathes to machine precision parts for steam and gas turbine applications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and engineering specifications to determine machining sequence and setup.
- Program, edit, and troubleshoot G-code; utilize Mastercam or DMG conversational programming as needed.
- Select proper tooling, fixtures, and work-holding methods for each job.
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments to verify conformance to specifications.
- Perform turn/mill operations on multi-axis equipment where applicable.
- Identify and troubleshoot machining issues, adjusting speeds, feeds, and offsets as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with plant safety standards.
- Communicate effectively with shift leads and quality personnel regarding job status and any part discrepancies. Qualifications
- 5+ years of CNC lathe set-up and operation experience.
- G-code programming experience required.
- Mastercam or DMG conversational programming experience desired.
- Turn/mill machining experience a plus.
- Strong blueprint reading and precision measurement skills.
- Ability to work independently on 2nd shift with minimal supervision.
