Job Title:
CNC Machinist Job Description The CNC Machinist programs, sets up, and operates CNC equipment to machine parts according to drawings and instructions. This role focuses on producing high-quality parts that meet print specifications and are completed within established time standards documented in the computer system. The position is on 1st shift, working from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch break, and may include overtime depending on the production schedule. Responsibilities Program CNC machines to manufacture and fabricate parts according to engineering prints and instructions. Set up CNC lathes and related equipment, including tooling and workholding, to run production and prototype jobs. Operate CNC machines to produce parts that meet dimensional, quality, and cosmetic requirements. Inspect parts during and after machining to verify correctness against drawings and specifications, and document inspection results where appropriate. Process parts from staging and work areas to the appropriate next steps in the routing, ensuring accurate movement and tracking through the production process. Identify opportunities to improve product quality, machining efficiency, and overall productivity on the shop floor. Collaborate with team members to implement process improvements and best practices in machining and fabrication. Edit G-code programs at the machine using Fanuc controls to optimize performance and correct issues as needed. Follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area in the fabrication environment. Essential Skills At least 3 years of experience setting up CNC lathes. Hands-on experience as a CNC machinist, including CNC setup and operation. Ability to edit G-codes using Fanuc controls directly at the machine. Proficiency working with CNC lathes in a production or fabrication environment. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and part prints. Strong attention to detail to ensure parts meet print specifications and quality standards. Ability to work collaboratively with a machining and fabrication team to meet production goals. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with CNC milling machines. Experience with manual machining, including manual mills and lathes. Fabrication experience using manual machines. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish. Familiarity with Haas CNC equipment. Experience with lathe setup in a fabrication or manufacturing environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Northbrook, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.50 - $34.50/hr.
