A Machinist builds and repairs precisely detailed and sized metal parts used in a variety of tools and appliances. Builds parts following a blueprint or creates original designs.
8:00 AM-4:30 PM For approximately the first month, Tuesdays and Thursdays may be 9:30 AM-6:00 PM based on training needs.
Pay:
$38-$44/hour DOE ($79,000-$91,000 annually)
Position Summary:
The CNC Machinist is responsible for producing and maintaining high-quality tooling, machine components, and repair parts. This role uses CAD/CAM software and CNC and manual machining equipment to manufacture, modify, and repair precision components while maintaining safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Create tooling and machine-part models and drawings using CAD software. Develop CNC programs using CAM software and CNC controls. Operate CNC machining centers, manual mills and lathes, and CNC precision grinders. Manufacture, repair, and replace tooling and machine components to production specifications. Perform on-demand and work-order repairs to support production equipment. Read and interpret blueprints and manufacture parts to tight tolerances, including ±0.0003". Maintain, align, and safely operate machines, tools, and shop equipment. Communicate with Production Control and Maintenance to identify, evaluate, and address tooling needs. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment and follow all applicable safety procedures, including lockout/tagout. Follow SOPs, work instructions, cGMPs, OSHA requirements, and applicable regulations. Participate in continuous improvement and site improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce waste. Train and share technical knowledge with others as needed. Perform other duties as assigned by the Sr. Manager, Engineering.
Qualifications:
High school diploma/GED or equivalent required. Strong knowledge of standard machining practices, machine shop production, and inspection methods. Proficiency operating CNC and manual mills and lathes. Ability to use CAD, CAM, computerized maintenance management, and standard computer software. Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical documents. Ability to work independently and effectively with employees across departments. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred:
2 years of vocational education in machine shop or related technology, 1 year of CAM experience, and 5 years of Class A Machinist experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
Physical & Work Environment:
Medium physical work in a combination of office and manufacturing environments. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb steps/ladders, and perform repetitive hand and arm movements. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. short distances and maneuver materials using appropriate equipment. Ability to work safely while wearing required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes, and protective clothing.
