Job Description
If You're a 5-Axis Machinist, Keep Reading. Let's skip the corporate buzzwords. If you're the person everyone turns to when a setup gets complicated, a tolerance is critical, or a difficult part has to run right the first time, this opportunity may be worth your attention. We're working with a highly respected precision manufacturer in the Champaign area that is looking for an experienced CNC Setup/Operator with strong 5-axis milling experience. Not someone who simply loads parts and presses cycle start. A machinist. Someone who understands the process. Someone who knows how tooling, workholding, programming, and machine performance all come together to produce quality parts. Someone who takes pride in their craft. What You'll Be Doing You'll be setting up and operating advanced 5-axis machining centers producing precision components for industries where quality isn't optional. Aerospace, medical, defense, energy, and other demanding applications where every dimension matters. This isn't a high-volume production environment where you'll run the same part all day, every day. You'll work on challenging components, complex setups, and projects that require skill, attention to detail, and critical thinking. Why Experienced Machinists Are Interested; You'll Actually Use Your Skills Complex parts. Tight tolerances. Challenging setups. The company values machinists who can think through problems, troubleshoot issues, and continuously improve processes. Modern Equipment and Continued Investment The organization continues to invest in advanced machining technology, inspection equipment, and manufacturing capabilities. You'll have access to the tools needed to do quality work. Stability and Growth This is an established manufacturer with a strong reputation and a growing customer base. They're investing in their future and in the people who help drive that success. Opportunities Beyond the Machine Whether your long-term goal is programming, process improvement, leadership, or advanced machining, there are opportunities to continue developing your career. A Culture That Respects Craftsmanship Good ideas are valued regardless of job title. If you know a better way to machine a part, improve a setup, or increase efficiency, people listen. What We're Looking For Experience setting up and operating 5-axis CNC milling machines Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge Understanding of tooling, workholding, feeds, and speeds Ability to make offsets and troubleshoot machining issues independently Experience holding tight tolerances Pride in producing quality work The Bottom Line If you're a skilled 5-axis machinist who enjoys challenging work, modern equipment, and an environment where craftsmanship still matters, we'd like to talk. Confidential opportunity. Competitive compensation. Interesting work. A chance to be part of a team that values skilled machinists. No fluff. Just good manufacturing.
