PEER Chain & Sprockets is a family-owned industrial chain and sprocket supplier based in Waukegan, Illinois, providing high-quality products for power transmission, conveying, and lifting applications since 1969. We serve a wide range of industries including agriculture, food processing, lumber, construction, and sewage treatment, offering ANSI and ISO compliant chains. Now celebrating over 56 years in business, the company has grown into a four-generation family operation known for its product expertise and quick turnaround times. PEER chain is looking for a detail-oriented individual who enjoys complex tasks and solving problems to operate our CNC or Manual lathe and mill. The machinist will be responsible for writing CNC programs and to make parts that fully meet all required specifications. Their duties include setting up equipment, operating equipment, and inspecting finished parts. Familiarity with Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Software and machinery used Knowledge of how to operate grinders, lathes, and milling machines Knowledge of Lathe and Mill Equipment and Tooling Knowledge and understanding of GD&T Math skills to take precise measurements and make calculations Analyzing drawings and specifications to gain a thorough understanding of the requirements Develop a plan of action to manufacture parts according to specifications Setting up equipment required to complete each step of the manufacturing process Operating equipment to carry out each step correctly Monitoring the production process and intervening when problems arise Inspecting finished parts for flaws and defects Maintaining equipment located throughout the machine shop Perform various secondary operations such as light assembly, part trimming, and packaging Ability to move roughly 50 to 70 pounds and remain stationary throughout a shift
