Job Title:
CNC Lathe OR Mill Machinist - 2nd OR 3rd Shift Job Description We are seeking a dedicated CNC Lathe Machinist for our 2nd shift to operate a Twin Spindle Twin Turret Lathe. The role involves manufacturing firefighting equipment, including handline nozzles, apparatus valves, fittings, industrial valves, adapters, caps, and plugs. Responsibilities Setup and operate CNC Lathe or Mill machining centers. Spend 30% of time performing setups and change outs. Spend 70% of time monitoring machines, performing inspections on completed parts, and cleaning/organizing work areas. Perform 1 to 3 setups per shift with runs ranging from 20 to 200 parts. Operate Okuma-Howa Lathes including Bar Feeder Lathes, Single, Index, and Custom-Thread Lathes. Run 2 machines simultaneously. Use micrometers and calipers to ensure parts meet specifications. Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, and fixtures on machines. Read, understand, and edit programs for Bar Feeders. Conduct preventative maintenance on CNC lathes based on work schedule. Maintain a tolerance of +/- .001. Essential Skills 1+ years of setup, change outs, offsets, and operation of CNC Lathe machinery; Okuma experience preferred. Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints for part inspection. Skilled in using precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges. Experience working with tight tolerances up to +/- .001. Understanding of G & M codes. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Why Work Here? Work Environment The work environment includes older equipment which is gradually being upgraded, with a foundry attached to the machining building. It is an oily and dirty environment. The position is for the 2nd shift, Monday to Friday from 2:55pm to 10:55pm, with Saturdays from 5am to 10am as needed. A shift premium is offered. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elkhart, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.96 - $28.46/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
