Job Summary We are seeking a skilled General Machinist to join our manufacturing and maintenance team specializing in tooling repair and maintenance for dies, sizers, and injection molding tooling. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating manual machine shop equipment including milling machines, lathes, saws and surface grinders, along with strong mechanical aptitude related to injection molding tooling assembly, changeovers, and preventative maintenance activities. This position requires a detail-oriented individual capable of troubleshooting, repairing, fabricating, and maintaining precision tooling to support production operations. Key Responsibilities Repair, maintain, and modify dies, sizers, molds, and related tooling components Operate manual machining equipment including: (No CNC machining on-site) Milling machines Engine lathes Surface grinders Horizontal and vertical bandsaws Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, indicators, and other inspection tools Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble injection molding tooling Support tooling changeovers and setup activities for production operations Conduct preventative maintenance on molds, dies, and tooling systems Troubleshoot tooling issues and recommend corrective actions Fabricate replacement components and tooling parts as required Read and interpret blueprints, tooling drawings, and technical specifications Maintain clean and organized work areas while following safety procedures Work closely with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to minimize downtime Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Minimum 3-5 years of machinist experience in a tooling or manufacturing environment Proficient operation of manual mills, lathes, and surface grinders Experience repairing dies, molds, sizers, or precision tooling Knowledge of injection molding tooling and mold construction Experience with tooling assembly, changeovers, and preventative maintenance Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring instruments Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently in a small-shop environment Preferred Welding or fabrication experience preferred Familiarity with hot runner systems and mold cooling systems Forklift or overhead crane experience Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Frequent bending, reaching, and manual handling of tooling components Ability to work safely around machine shop equipment Work Environment Small manufacturing/toolroom environment (Air Conditioned small tooling shop) Exposure to machine noise, oils, coolants, and metalworking operations Team-oriented atmosphere with hands-on problem solving Works alongside Maintenance team to fix/repair machines, tooling and parts, etc. Desired Traits Strong attention to detail Reliable and dependable Self-motivated with good time management Pride in craftsmanship and quality workmanship Positive attitude and willingness to support team operations
