Machine Builder Job Description We are seeking a skilled Machine Builder to join our team in constructing food manufacturing equipment in a job shop environment. You will be responsible for reading blueprints and assembling pizza machines using a variety of hand and power tools. Your tasks will include fabricating steel, installing conveyor systems, gearboxes, motors, and performing electrical wiring on food manufacturing machines. This role requires travel 30-40% of the year once permanent, with all expenses, travel, and per diem covered. Responsibilities Read and interpret blueprints to build food manufacturing equipment. Utilize hand and power tools such as wrenches, sockets, drills, screwdrivers, saws, and air guns for machine fabrication. Cut and fabricate steel using a torch. Install conveyor systems, gearboxes, and motors. Perform electrical wiring on food manufacturing machines. Essential Skills Proficiency in reading blueprints. Experience with mechanical assembly and machine building. Ability to use hand tools (must have own tools). Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics. Additional Skills & Qualifications Valid Driver's License. Experience with welding is a plus. Background in food processing equipment is beneficial. Why Work Here? Work Environment The job operates on a 1st Shift schedule from 6 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday, ensuring a steady 40-hour workweek with no overtime on contract. The facility is brand new, spanning 200,000 square feet, and is located in Munster, IN. With great lighting and temperature regulation, the environment is extremely clean, catering to the food industry. The dress code requires jeans, steel-toed boots, a long sleeve shirt, and PPE. The culture is that of a job shop where employees often work independently or with one other person, taking responsibility for their own tasks and ensuring all work is completed efficiently. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Munster, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
