Many valve manufacturers and Gulf Coast chemical processors and refineries trust our integrity and competence to perform a wide variety of valve modifications and repairs on time, to specification, and within budget. Description The Manual Machinist Level 1 position is an entry-level to early-career machining role. This position is responsible for safely assisting with and performing basic manual machining operations under supervision. The employee will learn to work on industrial valve components while developing skills on manual lathes, knee mills, horizontal boring mills, and vertical turret lathes. The Level 1 machinist should be able to follow instructions, use basic measuring tools, perform simple machining tasks, and maintain a clean and safe work area. Education & Experience Minimum preferred qualifications: 02 years of manual machining experience Trade school, vocational training, or related shop experience preferred Experience in valve repair, industrial repair, or job-shop machining is a plus Skills and Abilities Required Ability to safely operate basic manual machine tools under supervision Basic understanding of manual lathes, knee mills, drills, and shop equipment Ability to read simple drawings, sketches, and work instructions Ability to use basic measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators Willingness to learn speeds, feeds, tooling selection, and machining techniques Ability to assist with setup, indicating, part handling, deburring, cleaning, and inspection Ability to follow instructions and ask questions when requirements are unclear Responsible for personal safety and the safety of others Must be able to stand for long periods, reach, handle tools, and perform physical shop work Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds Typical Work Deburring, cleaning, polishing, and preparing valve components Assisting senior machinists with setups and part handling Performing basic facing, drilling, tapping, boring, and milling operations Learning to machine parts while maintaining required tolerances Supporting repair work on valve bodies, bonnets, discs, seats, stems, and related components Hours Full-time position: MondayFriday, 8:004:30, with frequent overtime and weekends as needed to meet customer deliveries.
