Role Overview Saronic Technologies is seeking a Machinist to support vessel production, prototyping, manufacturing, and sustainment activities across our autonomous vessel programs. This role is responsible for producing precision components, tooling, fixtures, and production hardware supporting vessel construction, integration, testing, and operations. The Machinist will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, production, and commissioning teams to rapidly fabricate and modify components in support of a fast-paced shipyard and manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in manual and CNC machining operations, enjoys solving manufacturing challenges, and thrives in an environment where speed, quality, and innovation are critical to mission success. Responsibilities Set up and operate manual and CNC machine tools including mills, lathes, drill presses, and saws Manufacture precision components, fixtures, tooling, and production hardware from engineering drawings and CAD models Support prototype development, production improvements, and rapid design iterations Perform machining operations on aluminum, stainless steel, composites, plastics, and other materials used in vessel construction Inspect completed components using precision measurement equipment to verify dimensional accuracy and quality requirements Assist engineers with manufacturability reviews and fabrication planning Support vessel integration, commissioning, and field operations through rapid fabrication and repair activities Maintain machine tooling, workholding equipment, and shop organization Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on manufacturing efficiency, quality, and throughput Adhere to all safety, quality, and operational procedures Qualifications High school diploma, GED, technical school certification, or equivalent experience 3+ years of machining experience in manufacturing, aerospace, defense, maritime, or industrial environments Experience operating manual mills, lathes, and CNC equipment Ability to read engineering drawings, GD&T callouts, and technical documentation Proficiency with precision measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities Comfortable working in manufacturing and shipyard environments Experience with CAD/CAM software Familiarity with aluminum vessel construction and marine systems Experience supporting defense, robotics, aerospace, or autonomous systems programs Welding, fabrication, or assembly experience Technical certifications in machining or manufacturing technologies
