Job Description
Talascend is currently seeking a CNC Machinist for a contract opportunity with our client in Farmington, Michigan . Overview The CNC Machinist I supports the creation of low volume and one-of-a-kind parts from various materials, working through multiple project phases from concept to delivery. The role involves operating CNC and manual machining equipment and performing inspection and finishing tasks to ensure quality outcomes. Responsibilities Develop wire frame and solid models, modify imported models, and edit post processors to suit various equipment using Tebis, WorkNC or Mastercam software. Operate CNC machines, lathes, and mills, making multiple passes until desired outcomes are achieved. Prep, inspect, finish, and join parts using manual equipment and hand tools. Load material into CNC machines, apply fixturing, and select tooling. Machine fixtures and jigs to support processes. Support multi-phase CNC machining processes including troubleshooting, design changes, and issue resolution. Maintain machinery, tools, and equipment in a clean and organized state. Submit requests for restocking materials or supplies. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Minimum of 1 year experience with CNC machining and manual machining Experience with 3-axis milling operations Preferred Qualifications Associate degree in advanced manufacturing or related field 3 years of experience with industry-standard software applications such as Tebis, Mastercam, WorkNC, CATIA, or AutoCAD Experience with polymer or metal model making Experience with 5-axis milling operations Ability to edit G & M code using machine controllers Knowledge of manual grinding, honing, lapping, mill, and lathe operations Knowledge of model making, mold making, metal fabrication, and composites Ability to learn and use 3D scanning methods for quality inspection Ability to become ITAR certified Ability to work overtime including weekends
