Job Description
Position Overview We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Senior CNC Machinist to join our precision manufacturing team. In this role, you will set up, operate, and maintain machining centers to produce high-tolerance components from engineering drawings and CAD/CAM files. You will play a key role in maintaining quality standards and mentoring junior machinists on the shop floor. Work week is four 10 hour days with optional overtime. Responsibilities Set up, program, and operate multi-axis machining centers using G-code and CAM software (Mastercam, Fusion 360, or equivalent) Interpret engineering blueprints, GD&T callouts, and technical drawings to manufacture parts to tight tolerances (typically ±0.001") Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, and workholding; perform tool offsets and work coordinate system (WCS) setup Perform in-process and first-article inspection using precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, and surface gauges Troubleshoot machining issues including dimensional non-conformances, surface finish defects, and tool wear; make program edits at the machine controller as needed Perform preventive maintenance on CNC equipment and report mechanical issues to maintenance staff promptly Complete production documentation, traveler packets, and non-conformance reports in accordance with ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality standards Mentor and guide apprentice and junior machinists on setup procedures, machining best practices, and safe shop behavior Required Qualifications 5+ years of hands-on CNC machining experience in a production or job shop environment Proven ability to set up machines from scratch and run full production cycles with minimal supervision Proficiency reading and interpreting engineering drawings with GD&T per
ASME Y14.5
Experience with Fanuc or Okuma CNC controllers Strong G-code knowledge and ability to edit programs at the controller Skilled use of precision measurement tools and gauging equipment High school diploma or equivalent; vocational/trade school certification or apprenticeship preferred Preferred Qualifications Experience machining aerospace, medical device, or defense components Familiarity with 4- or 5-axis simultaneous machining CAM programming experience (Mastercam, Fusion 360, or similar) Knowledge of materials including aluminum alloys, stainless steel, titanium, and Inconel What We Offer Competitive hourly wage: up to $32/hr. to start based on experience Paid Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) retirement plan with employer match Paid time off plus 10 company holidays Opportunities for advancement and cross-training on additional equipment Clean, well-maintained shop with modern CNC equipment Physical Requirements & EEO Statement We are an equal opportunity employer committed to a safe and inclusive workplace.
