Up to $39.00/hour + 17%
Third-Shift Premium Shift:
Sunday-Friday, 11:00 PM-7:00

Schedule:
Full-Time | Third Shift Position Overview A leading aerospace manufacturing company in Warren, MI is seeking an experienced Manual CNC Lathe Machinist to join its third-shift team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced machinist with a strong background in manual lathes and Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs) who can perform complex setups and operate with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will have aerospace machining experience and a strong understanding of precision measurement, blueprints, GD&T, and machining processes. Key Responsibilities Perform complex setups, edits, and operation of established and new product introduction (NPI) jobs with minimal supervision. Make machine adjustments and modifications as necessary to ensure parts conform to specifications. Set up and operate manual VTLs and manual lathes . Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments including micrometers, depth gauges, height gauges, and vernier calipers. Read and interpret blueprints, operation sheets, and process documentation. Work closely with Engineering regarding material conditions, part positioning, tool pressure, and other machining requirements. Identify faulty operations, materials, or other issues and report them to the appropriate supervisor. Support production schedules and customer delivery requirements. Provide training to other employees as needed. Follow all safety requirements, including proper machine guarding and required PPE. Maintain clean and organized machines and work areas. Follow company policies, safety procedures, and quality requirements. Participate in Lean manufacturing, 6S, and continuous improvement initiatives. Work overtime and flexible hours as needed to meet customer commitments. Develop basic CNC programming skills as required. Qualifications 3-5 years of machining experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment. 3+ years of experience setting up and operating manual VTLs and manual lathes. Experience with machines such as Mazak, Mori-Seiki, and LeBlond . Experience machining plasma coatings and K/E seals on rotating aircraft components preferred. Strong mathematical skills and knowledge of GD&T . Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) . Ability to read and interpret detailed blueprints and operation sheets. Strong precision measurement skills. Willingness to learn basic CNC programming. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to work collaboratively with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel. High school diploma or equivalent required.
Pay Details:
