Job Description

Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team. This role involves operating and programming CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines, including lathes and milling machines, to produce precision components in accordance with engineering specifications. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, proficiency in CNC set up, and experience with various manufacturing processes such as electrical discharge machining and plastics injection molding. Duties Set up, operate, and monitor CNC machines, including CNC lathes and milling machines, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to specifications. Interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) standards to produce precise parts. Program CNC equipment using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software and modify existing programs as needed. Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines to verify part dimensions. Perform routine maintenance on CNC machinery and troubleshoot issues promptly to minimize downtime. Select appropriate tooling and fixtures; adjust machine parameters for optimal machining results. Conduct quality inspections using precision tools; document inspection results accurately. Assist in the development of manufacturing processes incorporating lean manufacturing principles to improve efficiency. Support assembly operations when required, utilizing hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other fabrication tools. Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols and proper handling of materials like plastics or metals. Skills Proven experience operating CNC machinery such as CNC milling machines and CNC lathes with Fanuc controls or similar systems. Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages and CAM software for efficient machine setup. Proficiency in reading blueprints, technical drawings, GD&T standards, and using precision measuring instruments. Mechanical aptitude with understanding of electrical discharge machining (EDM), welding techniques, tooling selection, and basic math skills for calculations. Familiarity with CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software like SolidWorks or general blueprint reading skills. Ability to work with various manufacturing processes including plastics injection molding when necessary. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles aimed at reducing waste and improving productivity. Experience operating forklifts and power tools safely within a manufacturing environment. Good communication skills for collaborating with team members across different departments.
