This is not an operator position. The ideal candidate will be capable of independently setting up, programming, troubleshooting, and optimizing CNC lathes equipped with live tooling and multi-axis capabilities. The successful candidate must be able to produce first-article conforming parts with little to no supervision. Responsibilities Independently set up CNC lathes with live tooling from start to finish. Write complete CNC programs at the machine and edit existing programs without assistance. Read and interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T. Select proper tooling, work holding, and cutting parameters for maximum efficiency and quality. Perform first-piece inspections and make necessary program and tooling adjustments. Troubleshoot machine, tooling, and quality issues independently. Optimize cycle times while maintaining quality standards. Perform tool offsets, wear adjustments, and machine calibrations. Verify dimensions using precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators, thread gauges, and other inspection equipment. Maintain organized setups and ensure safe operation of equipment. Assist in training and mentoring less experienced machinists. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Required Qualifications Minimum of 6 years of CNC lathe setup experience in a precision manufacturing environment. Extensive experience with live tooling and multi-axis CNC lathes. Proven ability to write, edit, and troubleshoot CNC programs independently without assistance. Strong understanding of G-code and M-code programming. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T. Experience holding tight tolerances (±0.0005" or better). Strong understanding of speeds, feeds, tooling, and machining strategies. Ability to inspect parts using precision measuring equipment. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Experience with bar-fed CNC lathes and sub-spindle machines. Experience machining stainless steel, aluminum, alloy steels, plastics, and exotic materials. Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting. Ability to safely operate manufacturing equipment.
