POSITION SUMMARY
The Lead CNC Machinist reports to the Production Manager and is responsible for supporting and leading the CNC Machinist team in directing, training, coaching and mentoring employees; troubleshoots and problem solves in producing parts using various tooling machines; operates in compliance with company safety practices; and performs other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leading and directing CNC Machinist team to provide quality product to specifications as required by the customer. Oversees in setting up programs and operates conventional manufacturing machines, CNC Machine, lathes and milling machines. Oversees the reading and interpreting drawings and builds parts to the specifications. Oversees the assembling of parts to expected quality specifications. Oversees the inspection of parts, using basic hand tools, for accuracy of fabrication per drawing specifications. Oversees the building of tooling and fixtures needed to produce parts using manufacturing machines. Oversees the completed required paperwork as work progresses per work instructions; input necessary information in computer work order. Oversees and assists in special projects as required and assist employees as required. Ensure the cleanliness of shop floor and equipment for proper operation. Informs Director of Manufacturing of faulty/perishable equipment and tooling for repair. Ensures employees work areas are clean and proper store of equipment. Comply with established company and department safety procedures. Ensures equipment is properly ensured and parts are free of damage. Informs the Director of Manufacturing of damage to equipment and employee accidents immediately. Operates in compliance with company safety practices: complies with and aids in the development of departmental safety rules; ensures all equipment is in good working order and operates in a safe manner; monitors area for hazards; and maintains a safe and clean work area. Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or G.E.D. Five to seven years of previous machining experience with three, four and/or five axis experience. Three to five years of previous leadership experience required. Ability to use power operated machinery. Familiar with the use of basic hand tools and own basic hand tools. Must be team oriented and time sensitive. Ability to lead and direct employees to perform jobs and provide a high-end, quality product. Ability to direct work to specifications and extremely high attention to detail. Must be able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions. Must have excellent communication skills in training, directing, and mentoring.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires the ability to lift a maximum of 75 lbs. and work in seated or standing positions for prolonged periods of time.
Working Environment:
The working environment is climate controlled. Daily contact with employees in other departments is required.
