- Solar polysilicon, wafers, and innovative photovoltaic modules, enabling low-cost solar energy solutions Purpose of the Position The Senior Precision Machinist / CNC Programmer is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating a variety of manual and CNC machines to produce complex, high-precision parts that meet strict specifications.
Machine Programming and Operation:
- Program, set up, and operate CNC mills, lathes, and electrical discharge machines (EDMs).
- Create and edit 3
- 4• and 5-axis programs using Mastercam and/or PowerMill programming software based on 3D models and drawings.
- Set up and operate CNC and manual machines from proven programs and other documentation with minimal supervision.
- Operate equipment at a rate that meets or exceeds quality and efficiency standards specified on the traveler.
Fabrication and Inspection:
- Fabricate jigs, fixtures, and complex prototype tooling from drawings.
- Use traditional inspection equipment, such as micrometers, dial indicators, Vernier calipers, and height gauges, to verify accuracy and quality.
- Verify accuracy of parts using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) or surface plates.
- Conduct first-piece checks and obtain QA sign-off.
Documentation and Workflow:
- Create setup sheets, inspection checklists, and tool sheets.
- Follow instructions on routers, drawings, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure the production of quality parts.
- Document time and production data using Epicor software or equivalent systems.
- Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and ongoing needs.
Leadership and Collaboration:
- Train and mentor less experienced machinists and programmers as required.
- Collaborate with engineers, production personnel, and programmers to resolve machining or design issues.
- Run the department in the absence of the Manufacturing Technical Lead.
Safety and Maintenance:
- Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures and quality standards.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Ensure proper care and maintenance of tools, machines, and equipment. Qualifications Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Two-year technical degree preferred. Experience
- 5+ years of experience programming, setting up, and operating CNC mills and lathes.
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and its application to blueprint reading.
- Proficiency in creating and modifying CNC programs using Mastercam and/or PowerMill .
- Familiarity with fabricating complex fixtures and prototype tooling. Skills
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use reasoning to address machining or design challenges.
- Expertise in advanced trades mathematics, precision measuring instruments, and technical software applications.
- Ability to perform work with a high degree of accuracy and thoroughness.
- Ability to prioritize workflow and manage time effectively. Working Conditions
Environment:
Exposure to high noise levels, chemicals, and oils.Physical Demand:
Standing for 75% of the shift, with occasional heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs).Safety Equipment:
Safety glasses and safety shoes are required.Hazards:
Potential injuries such as cuts, abrasions, or exposure to health hazards, though generally minor. The range for this position is ?$21.00 hourly rate- $26.
