Job Description

STS Aerospace is looking for a Manual Machinist that sets up and operates conventional machines to fabricate metallic parts by performing the following duties. Scope of Responsibilities Including, but not limited to the following: Studies blueprints, job plans and/or work instructions to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements. Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers for complex jobs. Design and produce quality fixtures and tooling. Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine controls or control media as required. Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications. Deburr complex parts. Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data for experimental jobs. Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly. Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly. Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and test operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance. Single point I.D. and O.D. threads using manual lathes. Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems. Own tools and measuring equipment needed to assure parts are made to the proper dimensions.

Physical Demands:
This position requires employees to have physical stamina and be able to stand for extended periods of time. Employees should also have physical strength and the ability to lift up to 25lbs, as they will be required to move materials and manufactured parts to other departments on the production floor.
Work Environment:
Employees will be required to work on a fast-paced production floor where the noise level is usually loud. They will be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and heavy machine equipment. Employees must operate machine equipment in accordance with job instructions provided and in a safe and efficient manner. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
