Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and dependable General Shop Laborer to join our manufacturing team. In this dynamic role, you will support various shop operations, assist with fabrication and assembly tasks, and ensure the smooth flow of production processes. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop hands-on skills in machining, fabrication, and equipment operation while contributing to high-quality manufacturing outcomes. Duties Assist with the setup, operation, and maintenance of shop machinery including CNC laser cutters, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, press brake machines, stamping presses, plasma cutters, electrical discharge machining (EDM), and other fabrication equipment. Support material handling activities using forklifts and cranes to move raw materials, components, and finished products safely and efficiently. Read blueprints and technical drawings to aid in machining, assembly, and fabrication tasks. Use hand tools, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments for quality inspection and measurement verification. Perform basic machining tasks such as drilling, cutting sheet metal, welding, grinding, and assembling components according to specifications. Maintain a clean and organized work area by adhering to safety guidelines and proper tool storage procedures. Assist with quality control inspections to ensure products meet specified standards using GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles. Skills Proficiency in operating shop equipment such as CNC laser cutting machines, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, plasma cutters, press brakes, stamping presses, EDM machines, and welding tools. Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read blueprints and technical drawings accurately. Experience with tooling setup and adjustments for various fabrication processes. Ability to use hand tools effectively along with precision measuring instruments like calipers and micrometers for quality assurance. Familiarity with safety procedures related to crane operation, forklift driving, welding, and machining environments. Basic math skills for measurements and calculations required in manufacturing tasks. Understanding of manufacturing principles including fabrication techniques such as sheet metal work and assembly processes.
