Studies blueprints, drawings and/or shop orders to determine job specifications, sequence of operations and setup requirements. For Numerical Control applications loads program and edit information into computer using keyboard, disk, or retrieves preprogrammed machine instructions from database. Determines and sets up machine considering table movement, type and size of cutting or drilling tools, spindle location, machining start point and feed and speed rates. Positions and secures workpiece to machine by attaching between centers, in chuck, or to faceplate. Selects and installs preset tooling in tool holders, turrets or indexing heads and automatic tool change magazine, in sequence specified on process sheet. Activates controls and enters commands to index cutting tools to specified set point and to start machine. Observes machine operation to detect potential malfunctions such as worn or damaged cutting tools or inserts. Inspects first run and spot checks succeeding work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, immediately notifying Supervisor of any problems. Studies succeeding jobs and organizes tools and materials for next run to help shorten machine changeover times. Coordinates and processes machine workload to meet the varying needs of production. Will also be required to set up and operate other machine tools during machining cycles. Job RequirementsWhat You'll Bring:
High school diploma/GED Minimum 6 months machining experience Minimum of two-year related trade school training or equivalent job-related experienceWhat Sets You Apart:
Candidate must be able to read blueprints, micrometer, calipers and other standard measuring equipment. Ability to set up and operate other machine tools during machining cycles.
