- Climate Controlled Responsibilities Set up and operate a 5-axis CNC mill, ensuring each job meets required specifications and quality standards.
Perform an average of one complete machine setup per shift, including loading fixtures, tools, and programs. Perform tool offsets as needed, typically 30 to 50 offsets per day, to maintain dimensional accuracy throughout production runs. Monitor and run production lots that typically range from 40 to 80 pieces, adjusting processes as necessary to ensure consistency. Manage parts with cycle times ranging from approximately 3 minutes to 8 hours, with an average cycle time of about 10 minutes, while maintaining efficiency and quality. Work with a variety of materials, including stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, and inconel, adjusting machining parameters appropriately for each material. Review and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to understand part requirements and machining strategies. Perform G and M code edits on existing programs at the machine to optimize performance, correct issues, and improve part quality. Use geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) to verify and maintain critical dimensions and tolerances. Perform tool changes and verify correct tool selection, length, and wear compensation throughout the shift. Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot machining issues and continuously improve processes. Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety and quality procedures. Essential Skills At least 3 years of experience setting up and operating 5-axis CNC mills. At least 3 years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints for precision machining. At least 3 years of experience performing tool offsets independently on CNC machines. At least 3 years of experience performing G and M code program edits directly at the machine. Proficiency with 5-axis milling operations, including complex setups and multi-sided machining. Strong understanding of G and M codes and their practical application in CNC programming and editing. Ability to perform accurate tool changes and manage multiple tools within a job. Experience working with stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, and inconel or similar materials. Ability to apply GD&T principles to interpret and achieve dimensional and geometric requirements. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts. Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and maintain productivity throughout the shift. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with Mazak CNC machines is a plus. Familiarity with Mazatrol controls is beneficial. Experience machining stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, or inconel is highly valued. Previous experience in a high-mix, varying-lot-size production environment is an advantage. Comfort working with long cycle time jobs as well as shorter, higher-volume runs. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make effective on-the-fly adjustments at the machine. Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate with engineers, programmers, and other machinists. Why Work Here?
