Dover Hydraulics, a leading provider of hydraulic systems and components, is seeking a skilled and motivated Machinist to join our dynamic team in Dover, OH. The Machinist will primarily be responsible for setting up and operating a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments for our hydraulic systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate conventional and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, and grinders to fabricate parts according to specifications and tolerances. Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan the sequence of operations required to machine components. Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials for each job, ensuring optimum performance and efficiency. Measure dimensions of finished workpieces to verify conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments. Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for proper functioning, using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, vernier calipers, and dial indicators. Interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T) for accurate machining. Maintain a safe and clean working environment by adhering to company policies and procedures. Troubleshoot production problems and identify opportunities for process improvement. Collaborate with other team members, including engineers and production staff, to ensure accurate and timely completion of projects. Document and maintain records of completed work orders and job details, including machine maintenance and tooling requirements.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in machining preferred. Proven experience as a Machinist or similar role, preferably in the hydraulic systems industry. Proficiency in operating conventional and CNC machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders. Strong knowledge of different materials, tools, and machining techniques. Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and blueprints. Extensive experience with precision measuring instruments to ensure accuracy and quality. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot production issues. Detail-oriented with good manual dexterity and ability to work with precision. Strong organizational and time management skills. Safety conscious with a commitment to maintaining a clean and tidy work environment. Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and industry trends.
