6+months | Extension + Conversion Opportunities Available (Temp to Perm) Purpose of Position Sets up and operates conventional, special purpose, and numerical control machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and non metallic parts. Tasks and Responsibilities Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining. Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers. Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speeds, feeds, coolant flows, and depth and angle of cuts, or enters commands to retrieve inputs or edit computerized machine control media. Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required. Develops layout and plans sequence of operations. Locates and marks bending and cutting lines onto workpiece. Hammers, chips, and grinds workpiece to cuts, bends, and straighten metal. Preheats workpieces. Positions, aligns, fits, and welds together parts. Designs and constructs templates and fixtures. Verifies conformance of workpiece to specifications. Fabricates and assembles sheet metal products. Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications. Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data. Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly. Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly. Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance. Operates welding equipment to cut or weld parts. Sets up and operates machine tools associated with fabricating shops such as radial drill presses, end mills, and edge planers. Develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part or product to be fabricated. Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems. Exhibits and practices professional and courteous behavior while interacting with both internal and external customers. Interacts within a cooperative environment through beneficial behaviors, commitment to common goals, contribution to problem solving, communication of ideas and suggestions, and encouragement to other employees and departments. Accountable for the control and distribution of documents and/or equipment subject to export control restrictions and the security of FS• materials, projects, and business information regarding the methods and techniques used in the production and usage of FS• products. Accountable for the accuracy and completeness of assigned tasks. Able to adhere to a work schedule, including prompt and regular attendance. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. Minimum Education A. High school diploma or general education degree; five years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge and expertise for this level usually result from internal progressive experience. However, selection for this position is based on the demonstrated ability of the person to successfully fulfill the requirements listed.Minimum Experience Level A:

Physical Demands and Work Environment The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
