Job Description
Machinist Level III Our client is seeking a Machinist Level III to join a precision manufacturing team supporting complex aerospace components in a fast-paced production environment. This position is ideal for an experienced CNC machinist with a strong aerospace background who thrives on solving technical challenges, maintaining tight tolerances, and keeping production moving. The successful candidate will bring advanced machining expertise, a commitment to quality, and a continuous improvement mindset while contributing to a collaborative, safety-focused team. This role is on-site in Hubbard, Oregon working 10 hours a day from Thursday-Sunday. Machinist Level III Responsibilities Set up, operate, and optimize 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC mills, lathes, and vertical machining centers to manufacture precision aerospace components. Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T requirements to ensure accurate machining and compliance with customer specifications. Perform machine setup, tooling changes, offsets, and basic CNC program edits, including adjustments to speeds, feeds, and machining parameters. Troubleshoot machining issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to maintain production schedules and part quality. Conduct in-process inspections using precision measuring equipment, including CMMs and other inspection tools, to verify dimensional accuracy. Develop or refine fixturing solutions and collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve machining efficiency and quality. Utilize CAM software and Mastercam to support program optimization, feature verification, and basic part programming. Perform routine machine maintenance and ensure equipment remains in optimal operating condition. Complete manufacturing documentation accurately while maintaining compliance with aerospace quality and traceability requirements. Promote lean manufacturing principles, continuous improvement initiatives, and a safe, organized work environment. Machinist Level III Qualifications Aerospace manufacturing experience is required. Candidates without aerospace machining experience will not be considered. Experience ranging from 3 years through 6+ years of CNC machining in mill, lathe, or precision manufacturing environments is encouraged. Advanced experience operating multi-axis equipment and supporting complex aerospace components is highly valued. Proven experience setting up and operating 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC machining centers. Proficiency reading complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and applying Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T). Experience performing machine-side CNC program edits, including G-code and M-code adjustments. Familiarity with Fanuc controls is preferred. Working knowledge of Mastercam, CAM systems, and tooling or fixture development. Basic programming experience is a plus. Strong understanding of AS9100 quality standards, precision inspection techniques, and aerospace manufacturing requirements. Experience applying lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies. Proficiency using precision measuring instruments, CMMs, and inspection equipment to verify part conformance. Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
