CNC G-code Programming Full Job Description Job Opportunity:
CNC Lathe Machinist A client of ours in Tualatin is seeking skilled CNC Lathe Machinists to join their team. This role involves setting up, operating, and in more advanced levels programming CNC lathe machinery to produce precision components that meet engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. Candidates should have strong machining experience, attention to detail, and the ability to work at increasing levels of complexity depending on experience level.
Responsibilities:
Review work orders, drawings, engineering plans, materials, specifications, machining parameters, and surface requirements to produce precision parts; interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T) Read, interpret, and maintain CNC programs to achieve tight tolerances (down to .0001) including IDs, ODs, roundness, concentricity, and squareness Set up and operate CNC lathe machinery under general supervision, including measuring machine positions and inspecting sample workpieces for conformance to specifications Support production setup, tooling, and machining adjustments to maintain efficiency and quality standards Adjust machining parameters such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth, and angle of cut as needed to maintain quality and efficiency Manufacture components ranging from routine to complex depending on machinist level At higher levels, program CNC lathes by entering instructions including zero and reference points, tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches while performing required calculations using math, geometry, and trigonometry Prove out part programs and verify accuracy prior to production runs Perform offsets, troubleshooting, and adjustments to CNC lathe programs and equipment as needed Install, maintain, repair, rebuild, and support operation of lathe machining equipment Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of CNC lathe systems as required Ensure all work meets quality, safety, and dimensional accuracy standards throughout the machining process
Requirements:
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent 6 months to 10+ years of experience in machine tool operation and/or precision machine shop environments Experience on CNC lathe equipment performing setup, operation, and program prove-outs (required for higher levels) Experience programming CNC equipment utilizing CAD/CAM software systems (10+ years required for Machinist III level) Training in basic shop and measurement math, including linear measurement, metrics, algebra, and geometry Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, and schedule-based instructions Basic CNC program editing skills (preferred for mid-level roles)
Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 3:30pm to 12:00am
Pay:
$29-$34/hr. depending on experience + 10% shift differential
Duration:
This is a temp-to-hire position.
Pay:
$37.40 per hour
