In this role, you will support skilled machinists by preparing materials, assisting with machine setup, and ensuring quality standards are met. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop technical skills in CNC machining, blueprint interpretation, and measurement techniques while working in a fast-paced, safety-conscious environment. Whether you're just starting your career or looking to expand your manufacturing expertise, this role provides a solid foundation for growth and hands-on learning. Responsibilities Assist machinists with machine setup, including loading tooling and aligning workpieces on CNC lathes and milling machines Support measurement and inspection processes using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and other precision measuring instruments to ensure parts meet specifications Prepare raw materials and components for machining operations according to blueprints and technical drawings Operate manual machining tools such as grinders, hand tools, power tools, and basic machining equipment under supervision Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote safety and efficiency in all machining activities Follow safety protocols related to machine operation, measurement procedures, and handling of tooling and materials Assist with quality control inspections by verifying dimensions using GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards and recording measurement data Skills Basic understanding of CNC machining processes including CNC G-code programming, M-code functions, and Fanuc controls Familiarity with CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software such as SolidWorks or general blueprint reading skills for mechanical parts Knowledge of machining tools, tooling setup, and manual machining techniques on lathes and mills Ability to interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings accurately Proficiency in using precision measurement instruments like calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and bore gauges for quality inspection Understanding of manufacturing principles including CNC programming (including CAM programming), CNC quality inspection, and metal machining fundamentals Mechanical knowledge related to machine setup, operation of grinders, CNC milling machines, CNC lathe machines, and manual equipment Familiarity with measurement standards such as GD&T for ensuring part accuracy during production Ability to follow detailed instructions while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-moving environment Strong basic math skills for calculations related to measurements and tolerances This position is paid; we welcome motivated individuals eager to learn the craft of precision machining.
