PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in the preparation of materials and provide lecture, laboratory instruction according to the required curriculum and at the direction of the Machinist Instructor. Follow current course outlines, objectives, and evaluation mechanisms for the program, to include Electric Boat safety requirements, competencies, Competency Reports, and skills. Assist in the maintenance of the students' competency reports based on daily instructional events and outcomes. Assist in the maintenance of attendance, retention, and other documents as required by the administration. Provide educational assistance to students during regularly scheduled times. Advise students as it relates to program policies, and satisfactory (or unsatisfactory) performance. Maintain communication with the Machinist Instructor regarding such activity. Assist in the maintenance of all equipment and supply inventory. Secure consumable supplies as well as materials use in course from administrative office when needed. Maintain professional appearance at all times. Communicate with Machinist Instructor on all issues related to students and program. Attend all scheduled mandatory meetings set by Program Administration. Perform other duties as required. Ensure training labs are organized and cleaned at the end of each shift
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must have strong oral and written communication skills. Must have strong organizational skills. Must have a valid driver's license. Must have English language reading skills sufficient to read information on documents and files and to be able to organize paper files. Must have English language writing skills sufficient for writing clear directions and memos. Must have English language speaking skills sufficient to communicate in class, on the telephone and in person. Sufficient manual dexterity in both hands to be able to perform the duties of the job in both the classroom and lab. Ability to work as assigned. Must have Manufacturing / Machine Tool experience. Postsecondary education preferred. Microsoft Office Computer knowledge preferred. AutoCAD and CNC operation experience preferred. Summary As a Machinist Instructor, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality education and training in machining techniques to adult learners. Your relevant expertise in OSHA regulations, curriculum development, and mechanical knowledge will ensure that students gain practical and theoretical understanding. With strong communication and organizational skills, you will foster a collaborative classroom environment that prepares students for successful careers in manufacturing and related fields.
