A Machinist builds and repairs precisely detailed and sized metal parts used in a variety of tools and appliances. Builds parts following a blueprint or creates original designs.
Senior Machinists set up and operate various machine tools, follow established methods and procedures, meeting critical tolerances necessary to machine an array of parts to meet time and customer requirements. Decision making for service repairs and consulting with other team members is critical to this role with a variety in your day making new parts and service repairs. This position is ideal for a skilled machinist who takes pride in precision work, can work independently, and enjoys solving challenging problems and repairs.
Responsibilities:
Set up and operate manual lathes and mills to produce precision parts. Perform machining operations such as turning, milling, drilling and boring. Adjust machine settings and tools as required to ensure optimal performance. Use measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, indicators, bore gauges, and other precision measuring equipment to ensure parts meet tolerance specifications. Assist in the disassemble inspection, repair, reassembly and installation of all types of electric motors, generators, pumps, and other industrial equipment. Machine shafts, bushings, sleeves, bearing fits, keyways, couplings, housings, and other industrial equipment. Manufacture one-off and small-batch custom parts from drawings, samples, or measurements. Inspect finished parts for accuracy and adherence to specifications for quality. Work closely with technicians and other shop personnel to determine repair requirements and machining solutions. Keep machines and work areas clean and organized. Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Perform other functions as necessary
Qualifications:
5+ years of professional machining experience, preferably in a repair or job-shop environment. Strong knowledge of machining practices, tooling, feeds, speeds, and materials. Ability to read mechanical drawings and understand tolerances and proficient with measuring instruments. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Great attention to detail and good communication skills. Excellent time management and flexibility to balance numerous projects and meet competing deadlines. Ability to work accurately with minimal supervision independently and as part of a team. Valid Driver's license. Employment is contingent upon passing a background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
