Machinist Job Description As a Machinist, you will be responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC and various other types of machines, ensuring quality and safety standards are maintained. You will also perform routine maintenance on equipment and supplies as needed. Responsibilities Set up, program, and operate CNC machines, including brands such as Toshiba, Doosan, Mazak, Puma, and Fortune. Maintain quality and safety standards. Perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment. Read and interpret blueprints, engineering plans, material documents, specifications, and orthographic drawings. Understand programming of mills and lathes through conversational software and G & M code. Setup of mills and lathes by installing and adjusting various machine components. Verify machine settings by measuring positions, first-run parts, and sample workpieces. Troubleshoot processes, adjust and reprogram controls, and replace worn tools. Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting actions and communicating issues. Maintain operational documentation, including production and quality logs. Adhere to safety guidelines, procedures, and regulations. Essential Skills Experience with horizontal mill and axis CNC mill. Proficiency in conversational programming, G code, and M code machining. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documents. Understanding of geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T). Knowledge of basic math, geometry, and trigonometry for calculating requirements. Additional Skills & Qualifications Ability to set up mills and lathes with various machine components. Experience in troubleshooting machine malfunctions and ordering repairs. Capability to maintain a clean and organized work area. Ability to document operational needs and communicate with team leads or supervisors. Why Work Here? Work Environment Work in a manufacturing environment with flexible shift options, including 4-day workweeks or weekends. Training is provided for 3-6 months, with initial training typically on the first shift. Once trained, shift premiums are available for second shifts. The work schedule includes Monday to Thursday, 3:30 PM to 1:30 AM, with overtime opportunities on Fridays. Weekend shifts run from Friday to Sunday, offering 36 hours paid for 40. Relocation assistance is available. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jasper, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.
