Job Title:
CNC Machinist Job Description The CNC Machinist operates and sets up a wide range of complex production equipment to manufacture and inspect precision parts with tight aerospace-level tolerances. Working in a team-based environment, this role follows detailed digital work instructions and blueprints, performs equipment setup, calibration, and preventive maintenance, and uses advanced measuring tools and manufacturing software to ensure all products meet strict quality and customer specifications. Responsibilities Operate complex production equipment, manufacturing software, and tools to manufacture and package various products safely in a team environment. Follow digital work instructions, blueprints, guidelines, diagrams, and schematics to meet product specifications and required tolerance levels. Interpret dashboards and reporting tools to monitor production performance and quality. Execute equipment calibration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and sustained production activities. Make necessary adjustments to existing equipment and provide continuous feedback to support manufacturing process improvements. Provide quality control and in-process production testing to support the design and optimization of new and existing equipment. Set up and operate automatic and semi-automatic machines and related equipment in a continuous production or processing operation. Monitor meters, gauges, valves, flow ratios, temperatures, pressures, and related controls to ensure adherence to production and process specifications. Report equipment malfunctions or abnormalities and perform minor adjustments and repairs as needed. Set up and operate, in an efficient and timely manner, a wide range of machine tools such as mill-turns, mills, lathes, grinders, and powder presses on diverse products with difficult operations, aerospace tolerances, and complex shapes. Align and secure tooling, holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines. Set up and modify programs for robots and vision systems, and write product-specific and robot programs by material master. Modify CNC and robot programs in response to production problems or quality issues. Read and work from blueprints and set and check work using various quality control gauges. Use advanced inspection equipment such as Keyence systems, Optical Guide Post (OGP), and optical comparators to verify complex quality parameters. Troubleshoot operating issues, determine root causes of errors, and decide on appropriate corrective actions. Adjust programs in PLCs to manipulate parts and bring them into specification. Confer with engineering, supervisory, and manufacturing personnel to exchange technical information and resolve issues. Complete all required documentation, electronic data entries, and communications accurately and in a timely manner. Move materials, either physically or using mechanical means, as necessary to complete assignments. Perform inspection of machined products by selecting and setting up precision gaging to ensure internal and external quality specifications are met. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and contribute to a 100% safe work environment. Support Lean Enterprise initiatives by improving quality, reducing waste, and increasing productivity. Assist in modifying existing equipment and helping design new equipment to support continuous manufacturing process improvement and in-process production testing. Essential Skills Experience running CNC machines, including setup and operation of mills, lathes, mill-turns, grinders, and related machine tools. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and digital work instructions. Proficiency in machining practices, including working to tight and aerospace-level tolerances and complex shapes. Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly and machining processes. Skill in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers and various quality control gauges. Ability to use advanced inspection equipment such as Keyence systems, Optical Guide Post (OGP), and optical comparators. Experience setting up and operating automatic and semi-automatic machines in a continuous production environment. Ability to monitor and interpret meters, gauges, valves, flow ratios, temperatures, and pressures to maintain process specifications. Troubleshooting skills to determine causes of operating errors and implement corrective actions. Experience adjusting and modifying CNC, robot, and PLC programs to correct issues and meet specifications. Ability to perform equipment calibration, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs. Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality control and in-process inspection. Ability to complete accurate electronic data entries and production documentation. Commitment to following established safety procedures and contributing to a safe work environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Preferred prior experience specifically running CNC machines in a production environment. Experience working with powder presses and diverse product types. Familiarity with Lean Enterprise principles, including waste reduction, productivity improvement, and continuous improvement. Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, supervisory, and manufacturing personnel. Comfort working with manufacturing software, dashboards, and reporting tools. Capability to move materials using physical or mechanical means as part of daily tasks. Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to contribute ideas for process and equipment improvements. Work Environment This role is based in a non-temperature-controlled manufacturing facility, where you work directly on the production floor around CNC machines, mill-turns, mills, lathes, grinders, powder presses, and related equipment. You will regularly interact with robots, vision systems, PLC-controlled equipment, and advanced inspection tools such as Keyence systems, Optical Guide Post (OGP), and optical comparators. The environment is fast-paced and focused on continuous production, with an emphasis on strict safety practices and adherence to established procedures. You should be comfortable working around industrial machinery, standing for extended periods, and moving materials as needed in a hands-on, shop-floor setting. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $28.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
