The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge and experience operating machining equipment. The ideal candidate for this position will also: Own their own tools (preferred, not required) Operate all equipment and tools with the utmost attention to safety and professionalism Be capable of reading and understanding: outside and inside micrometers, vernier calipers, vernier height and depth gauges. Be able to study blueprints, drawings, schematics, engineering information, or sample parts to determine product dimensions and tolerances as well as best method and sequence of operations needed to repair parts. Select appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used for machining work. Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers. Align/secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials onto machines. Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine need for adjustments or repairs. Measure, examine and test completed parts in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications. Ensure all work is performed to the highest standards of quality and safety with regards to tight machining tolerances.
