CNC Machinists play a critical role in manufacturing and maintaining some of the most advanced naval vessels in the world. This position supports high-precision machining operations focused on quality, consistency, safety, and craftsmanship in a large-scale industrial manufacturing environment.•The Work You'll Be Doing In this role, you will: Set up and operate manual or CNC machinery Work with lathes, mills, vertical machining centers, and horizontal boring mills Troubleshoot machining operations and make process adjustments as needed Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions Verify dimensions and perform quality inspections to print specifications Utilize precision measuring instruments and strong math skills daily Support production in a fast-paced shipyard manufacturing environment Work closely with other machinists, maintenance teams, and production leadership•

Calipers Micrometers Precision Measuring Instruments Blueprint & Dimensional Inspection Equipment•Materials You'll Work With Steel Alloy Materials Industrial Structural Components Naval Manufacturing Materials•What We're Looking For (Required): 3+ years of machining experience Experience operating manual and/or CNC equipment Strong blueprint reading and math skills Ability to troubleshoot machining operations Comfortable working in industrial manufacturing conditions Ability to work in confined spaces, heights, and varying weather conditions Reliable, safety-minded, and team-oriented U.S. Citizenship required Preferred (Not Required): Automotive repair experience Plant maintenance experience Machinery installation or repair background Technical or vocational training in: Machining Diesel Technology HVAC Automotive Technology•Why Machinists Like Working Here Machinists choose HII because of the long-term stability, large-scale manufacturing environment, and opportunity to work on mission-critical defense programs.
