Job Description

CNC Machinist Aerospace / Weekend Shift Zepher Inc. | Bingen, WA | On-site | Full-time About the Position Zepher is a precision aerospace contract manufacturer producing sensitive, high-value components to
AS9100 / ISO 9001
standards. We're looking for a Machinist who already has hands-on machining experience and is ready to build a long-term career in aerospace machining. This is an entry point into aerospace, not into machining. You should already be comfortable around CNC equipment — we're looking for someone who can touch off tools and set work offsets and is hungry to grow into more complex setups, tighter tolerances, and the discipline that high-stakes aerospace work demands. Our experienced machinists and production leads will mentor you the rest of the way. If you've run parts before and want a place where craftsmanship, precision, and a real career path actually matter, we'd like to hear from you. Equipment You'll Work With Our shop runs Mazak, Brother, Haas, and Trak machines, including 5-axis machines, 4-axis mills, 3-axis mills, a lathe with live tooling, and semi-manual machines. Schedule You'll start on our normal weekday day shift for training, working alongside our machinists and leads to learn our processes, equipment, quality system, and standards. Once you're up to speed, the role moves to a four-day, ten-hour schedule covering the weekend — Thursday through Sunday , with Monday through Wednesday off. Because much of this schedule falls outside our standard weekday hours, you'll often be running production on your own, so you must be able to work safely and independently once trained. Overtime and additional days may be required from time to time depending on shop workload. Key ResponsibilitiesMachine Setup & Operation Set up and run CNC machines following work instructions, travelers, and engineering drawings Touch off tools and set work offsets ; load tool data and verify setups before running Set up tooling and build job setups; break down machines and tear out setups when a job is complete Load and unload material and parts; manage workholding and fixturing Run production parts to tolerance, monitoring the machine and process throughout the run Identify and escalate machine issues or out-of-spec conditions promptly Quality & In-Process Verification Verify parts during production to ensure consistency and that dimensions hold across the run Monitor tool wear and make offset adjustments as needed to maintain size Use calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measurement tools to check parts in process Read and interpret technical drawings, GD&T, and specifications Document production activity and traceability accurately and completely Maintain the zero-defect mindset required for sensitive, high-value aerospace components Operate CMM and Part Scanner as needed Continuous Improvement & Teamwork Cross-train across multiple machines, processes, and part families over time Contribute ideas to improve efficiency, quality, and process reliability Collaborate with machinists, leads, and quality to keep jobs moving and right the first time General Perform routine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance on assigned equipment Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area Follow all safety protocols and wear required PPE Required Qualifications Prior machining experience — you've set up and/or run CNC equipment before Ability to touch off tools and set work offsets Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and take precision measurements Strong mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity, and exceptional attention to detail Commitment to quality and the discipline to follow procedures exactly Able to work safely and independently with minimal supervision once trained Availability for a Thursday-Sunday schedule after training, plus overtime and additional days as shop workload requires Reliable attendance and punctuality Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods during a 10-hour shift High school diploma or equivalent Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen or permanent resident) due to ITAR requirements Preferred Qualifications Experience in aerospace, medical device, or other regulated/precision manufacturing Familiarity with
