A Machinist builds and repairs precisely detailed and sized metal parts used in a variety of tools and appliances. Builds parts following a blueprint or creates original designs.
Manage and assist in the completion of the day-to-day activities involving the maintenance of RMG equipment and machinery including but not limited to CNC machines, fixtures, tooling and general production equipment and running the Manual Department.
Experience:
Familiarity with OSHA programs and practices. 5 years of maintenance experience in a machining environment 2 years experience with set-up on Manual Lathes and/or Manual Vertical/Horizontal mills; assessed through pre-employment interview process Mechanical aptitude, as assessed through the interview process Knowledge of PLC's (programmable logic controllers) Working knowledge of electronics, hydraulics and pneumatics Possess a strong ability to envision the steps necessary to efficiently and effectively produce a part from a part print; assessed through pre-employment interview process Strong ability to read, understand and interpret part prints; assessed through pre-employment interview process Possess a basic understanding of the ISO working environment Physical ability to perform required tasks, (strength, dexterity), assessed through pre-employment physical
Responsibilities:
Follow all safety and regulatory rules Familiarity with the QMS requirements Identify product In Process Create, per the part prints, customer parts to achieve optimum machining times Efficiently setup machines for each operation Operate manual and CNC machines Use all required measuring instruments to verify product conformance Apply visual standards to verify product conformance Interpret and follow process monitoring frequencies and sample size Recognize special characteristic symbols and apply related control requirements Complete all production and inspection records - PDR Oversees all work in progress to ensure quality, timeliness and safety. Schedules preventive maintenance using uniPoint software module on a basis. Maintains inspection and repair records in uniPoint. Maintains inventory of necessary parts and equipment. Investigates and coordinates a response to employee questions and complaints. Assists or participates in performing maintenance and repair work as necessary. Trouble shoot and repair unplanned maintenance needs on manual equipment Perform unplanned maintenance repairs on CNC equipment Use equipment manufacturer's manuals to identify replacement parts and correct maintenance/ repair procedures Write departmental work instructions per ISO recommendations. Coordinate scheduled/unscheduled repairs of production equipment Coordinate equipment repairs with plant supervisors and managers to ensure overall plant schedules are achieved with minimal impact. Maintain a preventative maintenance schedule and give proper notice to supervisors for schedule adjustments Ensure quick response to equipment related safety concerns Maintain the facility and machinery to assure safety and quality standards are met Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to: mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of packaging and production machines Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service Researching and gathering information related to vendors, contractors, equipment and supplies. Resolving day-to-day questions and problems regarding equipment, materials, methods, and procedures needed to complete projects. Proper use of tools, chemicals, equipment, machinery and techniques in the construction, maintenance and repair of RMG assets. Skill in operating equipment such as electric, gas powered and manual hand tools, blowers, mowers, tractors, hedge trimmers, trucks and bobcats. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Pay:
$31.00 - $34.00 per hour
