Job Description
Skilled Setup Machinist - First Shift Adept Manufacturing & Gauging - 4.0 Milwaukee, WI Job Details Full-time $25 - $40 an hour 22 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Paid time off Flexible schedule Qualifications Machine setup Tooling Machining tool setup Milling machines Equipment adjustment (production tasks) Full Job Description Experienced CNC Setup Machinist - First Shift Adept Manufacturing & Gauging | Milwaukee Area If you're an experienced CNC machinist who's feeling underappreciated, tired of corporate BS, or wondering if there's something better out there , we should talk. Adept Manufacturing & Gauging is a smaller precision machining company where experienced machinists are valued for what they know and what they bring to the shop. We're looking for a skilled CNC Setup Machinist who can take ownership of their work, solve problems, and produce high-quality precision parts without someone looking over their shoulder all day. This is a first-shift position working primarily with CNC mills , along with some Swiss turning . Programming experience is a definite plus. What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who knows machining — not just someone who knows how to push Cycle Start.
You should be comfortable with:
Setting up CNC mills from start to finish Reading and interpreting complex prints Selecting tooling, workholding, speeds, and feeds Making offsets and adjustments Inspecting your own work and holding tight tolerances Troubleshooting setups and machining problems Working independently and making good decisions at the machine Producing small, complex precision components where details matter Contributing ideas for improving setups, processes, quality, and efficiency Experience with CNC programming is strongly preferred. Experience with Swiss turning is also valuable, although the majority of the position will involve milling. This Is a Skilled Machinist Position We aren't looking for someone to simply load parts into a machine all day. We want someone who understands why a machining process works, recognizes when something isn't right, and has the experience to figure out how to make it better. If you're the kind of machinist people come to when a setup is difficult, a tolerance is giving everyone trouble, or there's got to be a better way to run a job, you'll probably fit in well here. A Smaller Shop Where Your Experience Matters One of the advantages of working at Adept is that you're not just another employee number. Good ideas don't have to travel through five layers of management before someone listens to them. Experienced people have a voice, and the decisions you make can have a real impact on how we operate. We're looking for someone who wants more than just their next job. For the right person, this can be a long-term opportunity to grow, take on more responsibility, and become a bigger part of the team.ISO 9001
& Continuous Improvement Adept is an ISO 9001-certified precision machining company , which means continuous improvement isn't just something we talk about — it's something we document, measure, and work on every day. The person we hire for this position will be an important part of that process. We want a machinist who notices opportunities to make a setup better, reduce unnecessary operations, improve consistency, shorten cycle times, prevent mistakes, and make jobs easier to run the next time. Your experience and ideas will matter. Pay & Benefits Pay is based on experience. We're deliberately not putting a narrow wage range on this position because we don't want to exclude an excellent machinist based on an arbitrary number. If you have the experience and skills we're looking for, we'll pay you what you're worth. There is also an opportunity for a pay increase after successfully completing the 90-day probationary period.Benefits include:
First-shift schedule Paid time off Health insurance Flexible scheduling Competitive pay based on experience 90-day performance/pay review A stable, long-term position with opportunities to grow A smaller-shop environment where your experience and ideas are valued Who Will Be Happiest Here? This position is probably a good fit if you're an experienced machinist who: Takes pride in making difficult parts correctly Likes solving machining problems Doesn't need constant supervision Wants their knowledge and experience to be respected Would rather work with a small team than disappear inside a huge corporation Wants some flexibility and a reasonable work environment Likes having input into how jobs and processes can be improved Is looking for a place where they can stay, grow, and become an important part of the company You don't need to be actively looking for a new job. If you're good at what you do but feel underappreciated where you are, are tired of corporate BS, or simply wonder whether there's a better opportunity out there , it may be worth having a conversation.
