Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Fiber Laser Operator to join our team in a steel manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining fiber laser cutting machines in a steel manufacturing environment. This role involves producing precision-cut steel components based on specifications, interpreting blueprints and technical drawings, and ensuring high-quality output. Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a solid understanding of manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up, operate, and adjust fiber laser cutting machines to cut steel sheets, plates, and other metal components as per job requirements. Load and unload steel materials onto the laser cutting machine safely and efficiently. Interpret and follow technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to ensure accurate cutting. Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools to ensure they meet required tolerances and quality standards. Perform routine maintenance on laser cutting equipment, including cleaning, lens inspection, and replacing consumables as needed. Make necessary program adjustments using CNC controls to optimize cutting performance and efficiency. Identify and resolve machine errors or malfunctions to minimize downtime. Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to company safety guidelines. Work closely with production supervisors, engineers, and quality control teams to meet production goals and deadlines.
Qualifications & Skills:
1-3 years of experience operating a fiber laser cutting machine in a manufacturing environment, preferably in steel fabrication. Familiarity with CNC programming and laser cutting software (e.g., Trumpf, Bystronic, Amada, Mazak, or similar brands). Able to lift 25 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in a physically demanding industrial environment. Experience with nesting software to optimize material usage preferred Knowledge of different types of steel preferred Basic fabrication experience is a plus preferred Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Work Environment:
Steel manufacturing plant with exposure to noise, heat, and heavy machinery. Requires strict adherence to safety standards and proper PPE usage. Fast-paced environment with production deadlines.
