A Packaging Machine Operator operates and maintains machinery which packages a product or products at a production or manufacturing facility, or a distribution hub.
Tends to machine that performs one or more packaging functions such as feeding, filling, marking, labeling and sealing packaging by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REPSONSIBILITES
including the following: Starts machine and observes operation to detect malfunctions of machine Stops machine and reports malfunction to supervisor Makes minor adjustments or repairs such as opening valves, setting guides, or clearing away damaged product containers. Inspects filled container to ensure that product is packaged according to specifications. Monitors product going to casing and monitors product count. Replenishes packaging supplies such as cartons, ink or labels. Cleans work are using proper cleaning procedures. Positions and holds container in machine and depresses pedal, presses button or moves lever to clean, glue, label, sew or staple container. At various times carries and stacks milk cases weighing 20-40 pounds. Other duties may be assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPREINCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
