Packaging Technician Job Description As a Packaging Technician, you will play a crucial role in the production process by loading boxes and cans, running and troubleshooting packaging machinery, and ensuring quality standards are met. Your attention to detail and ability to perform visual inspections will be key in verifying proper coding on bottles, cans, boxes, trays, and kegs. You will be responsible for filling out process quality checks accurately and reporting any defects to the shift lead or supervisor. Responsibilities Load boxes and cans, and operate machinery for starting and stopping packaging equipment. Perform visual inspection of boxes to ensure proper usage and acceptable graphics. Verify proper coding is on bottles, cans, boxes, trays, and kegs. Accurately fill out process quality checks and report major defects or quality issues. Perform machine and beer line sanitation and clean in place (CIP) operations. Communicate with warehouse personnel about goods needing to be returned to inventory. Execute package format changeovers using hand tools on equipment and production lines. Load corrugate, labels, bottles, cans, kegs, carriers, etc., into appropriate machines. Monitor material flow and clear jams if necessary. Operate forklift safely and efficiently to stage, move, load, and unload materials. Follow 5S and Lean Manufacturing Principles while maintaining cGMP compliance. Recommend changes to SOPs when corrections are needed. Assist in training team members as needed. Essential Skills Experience operating and troubleshooting machinery, preferably packaging machinery. Ability to navigate computer programs to input data from production runs. Proficiency in operating canning, bottling, and kegging equipment safely and efficiently. Must be at least 21 years old. Preferred experience in bottle, can, or keg filling. Preferred forklift experience with a clean driving record. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs. Proficiency in reading and writing English. Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Basic math skills and solution-oriented thinking. Additional Skills & Qualifications Stand-up forklift experience. Proactive, self-starter with adaptability and multitasking abilities. Strong communication skills, both verbal and via email. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Escondido, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
