Full Job Description Pay:

$22.50 - $37.00 per hour Job description: Company Overview Valley Iron is a leading independent, family-owned metal service center located in Central and Northern California. With a commitment to quality, service, and trust, we have been serving our customers since 1958, providing exceptional steel distribution and processing services across the region. Summary (Monday - Friday 8:00am-5:00pm) The primary duties of a Machine operator are to operate all machinery in a safe and efficient manner. Perform quality checks and produce high-quality metal products that meet our customers' needs. Operate the machines using correct materials to produce various shapes and sizes to ensure tolerances specified on the prints or drawings are correct. On the first article and throughout the process, checking the parts you are producing for accuracy. Essential Functions

• Reading blueprints and drawings.
• Setting up the machine.
• Measuring parts for accuracy and consistency.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment.
• Retrieve material, load material on machines, setup machine to each job's specifications.
• This includes pulling plates off machines from ten (10) pounds to two hundred (200) pounds, depending on material.
• Cleaning and de-slagging parts.
• Maintain a clean work environment.
• General yard clean up.
• All other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

Minimum Education Preferred:

High School Diploma or Equivalent 2.

Minimum Experience Preferred:

2 years machine operating experience, metal or related industry, preferred. 3.

Skills Required:

i. Ability to read and understand blueprints and drawings ii. Attention to detail. iii. Knowledge of sheet and plate products (grades, thickness) iv. Proficient in reading and writing English. v. Must know how to read calipers, micrometers, scales, angle finders, tape measures, and understand different scales of measurement.
