Job Description

Job Summary:
Operate mechanical equipment and machine tools to produce precision metal parts and components using a variety of equipment including lathes, milling machines, boring machines, saws, grinders, manual machines, and numerical controlled (CNC) machines. Read and interpret blueprints, design sketches, and technical documents to ensure proper dimensions, tolerances, and quality standards are achieved. Clean and prepare surfaces for painting or coating applications, including masking and taping protected areas as needed. Inspect parts before and after preparation and machining processes to ensure compliance with company quality and production standards. Maintain inventory accuracy, support efficient production operations, and properly dispose of waste materials in accordance with company policies and safety guidelines while upholding high standards of workmanship and workplace safety.
Essential Functions:

Review electronic or written blueprints or specifications for a job. Positions work piece on a drill press, lathe, or milling machine. Checks accuracy of work against blueprints and specifications Calculates dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instrument such a micrometers and vernier calipers. Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders. Examine and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers. Mark metal stock in order to display placement of cuts. Observe and/or listen to operating machines or equipment in order to recognize need for adjustments or repairs. Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment in order to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter. Clean and prepare surfaces for painting or coating Mask and tape areas that should not be painted Inspect parts before and after prep work to ensure quality standards Dispose of waste materials according to company guidelines
