Position Overview The Cylinder Maintenance position is responsible for all cylinder and liquid container maintenance activities within the plant operations. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Responsible for overall maintenance of all cylinders in the Plant environment
Performs visual and physical tests on cylinders
Repairs cylinder neck leaks and safety leaks
Assists cylinder testers in processing cylinders per DOT specifications and develop skills in hydro-test operations
Performs cylinder conversions including de-valving, valving, stripping and repairing valves being staged for hydro-testing
Operation of powered industrial equipment
Operation of forklift and electric pallet jacks
Operates steel shot blast equipment and cylinder paint booth
Assemble packs per WestAir and DOT guidelines
Understands cylinder ownership and cylinder markings
Ensures proper labeling of all cylinders
Understands and follow proper spills/emergency cleanup procedures
Support waste reduction and recycling programs
Direct interface with customers Requirements High School Diploma or GED and one or more years related experience
Class A Hazmat License, preferred, potential to drive
Understand Compliance issues and safety-sensitive areas
Ability to operate or willingness to train for forklift operation
Strong attention to details, highly organized, computer literate
Ability to work well in a fast-paced, high volume shipping distribution center
Exceptional teamwork skills and maintains good relations with team members to ensure deliveries consistently arrive on time
Must possess appropriate mathematical and analytical skills to determine the acceptability of the product(s) based on established criteria
Ability to lift to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
Effective communication with both internal and external customers both orally and in writing required Physical Demands The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and stand on his or her feet for long periods of time. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 50-100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Travel No travel is expected for this position Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time, non-exempt, and on-site position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, and range from 6:03 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Some overtime may be required, but not guaranteed.
